WEST ELGIN COMMUNITY BAND LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
The West Elgin Community Concert Band is looking for new members! All woodwind, brass and percussion musicians are welcome and needed! The band consists of players from age 16 to 80+ from the communities in West Elgin and surrounding areas. Current members come from London, Strathroy, Glencoe, West Lorne, and Dutton. We have two concerts a year (a Christmas concert, and a spring concert) as well as we like to be involved in community events such as parades, nursing home concerts, rotary festivals etc.The music we play ranges from movie soundtracks & popular tunes to Marches and everything in between. 73ND ANNUAL FERGUS SCOTTISH FESTIVAL AND HIGHLAND GAMES
August 10-12, 2018
The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is the largest, longest continually-running three-day event celebrating, promoting, and honouring Scottish heritage in Canada. With annual attendance nearing 20,000, the 73rd annual Festival offers programming that illuminates the four pillars of traditional Scottish culture: Highland Dance, Heavies Competitions, Pipes and Drums, and the gathering of over 50 Clans. This year, we welcome our Featured Guest Graham McTavish, who plays Dougal MacKenzie on the hit STARZ television drama Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon's wildly successful book series. We've got something for everyone, from heart-thumping Celtic music, to traditional artisans, McKiddies fun, and all the best of Scotland...without the airfare!
